Sketchbook Updates

A mini sketchbook update, some doodles from waiting around. From standing in line for a House of Blues concert to ordering an awesome burger at a local burger joint.
On a side note, I'm loving winter break! I took a mini trip to Sarasota, Fl. Absolutely gorgeous weather and wonderful food resulting in a relaxing vacation. My friend Kayla and I went to a local cafe, PastryArt, and had a lovely lunch and sketching session. Here's my friends blog http://kaylaeharb.blogspot.com/
And I also started my Sketchbook Project! Here's a sneak peak.

Embracing our Differences

Winter Break is finally here! I'm very excited to focus on my own personal projects and sketching at cafes. Here is an illustration I did for the end of the semester for the contest Embracing our differences (http://www.embracingourdifferences.org/). My concept behind the piece was that we all share the sun and earth and we are all special and unique. I tried to put my self in a child like mindset, focusing on happiness and sharing. Enjoy!!!

Tuffy's Tale

Has been a very productive week. I'm very anxious for thanksgiving break and relax for a little bit. Below are some promotional images for a group project I had to do for Computer Illustration. We pitched a video game aimed for children, so its very cute and educational. The story is about a girl named Sophie in search for her adorable dog, Tuffy, after he runs of into a creepy wonderland of the Big Bad Wolf. She musters up the courage and enters this scary world accompany by her three trusty piggy companions.  Everything is done in Illustrator. Enjoy!

I also made stickers, I'm a big sucker for cute things. Here are some designs.

Here are some sticker samples I made.

Old Sketches

I found my old sketchbook from last year, I really do enjoy this sketchbook, working on recycled paper is so much fun. I like to use microns with white gel pens for highlights. I'm still on a search for the perfect sketchbook. Here are a few sketches from figure class and Fews.

FEWS

Here is a recent figure painting done in oils. A quick one session pose during Fews, if you haven't been to Fews yet, please go, it's one of the best programs at Ringling, drawing the human form from life is the best practice an artist can get.

October

The weather has been gorgeous here in Florida, light cool breeze and still warm and not a dark cloud in the sky. First day of October my roommates and I bought cute little miniature pumpkins. We decided to do a quick still life painting in photoshop, since I'm utterly clueless in photoshop and needs desperate help. I learned a lot doing this quick study and hope to learn a lot more. Here's my first still life in photoshop.

A week in review

Its been quite the hectic week, even though it was labor day weekend and should've been easy, it was far from it. But I got a lot done this week!
Computer Illustration Project 2: three icons or spot illustration

Rubber Duckies. There is a post of an earlier version of this, finally finished woohoo.

Monochromatic figure paintings in oils:) We started figure painting in class this week! A little bit of a rough start, but only up from here. Both poses were about 2 hours.

Tried to do something different and just simply doodle.

Then made them vectors!

Summer at B&N

A lot of my time this summer was spent at a Starbucks inside of a B&N. I miss it very much.

Progress!

Both these sketches are from the same sketch book, as embarrassing as it is to post this, I'm happy with progress I made over the last few months. Both of these sketches are of my roommate Elaine, first one done in late February and the one on the bottom is from a few weeks ago when I went to California and got the chance to visit her. They both took the same amount of time of time to do. I love how time is evident in the two sketches by the length of her hair. She is a very cool person and very lucky to have her as my roommate. Her art is pretty good too, check out her blog at http://elaineywuwu.blogspot.com/

Finished Sketchbook!

I have this Piccadilly sketchbook I purchased a few years ago for 3 dollars. I learned to appreciate it greatly this year. I started drawing in it December of last year and finally finished last month. Started with a vacation to the Bahamas and end with another vacation to California.

Figure Sketches

Here are a few sketches from last semester. These were all done during FEWS.

Studio Classes

I haven't documented any of my figure work from this year nor have I taken any decent pictures of my work from painting class. I discovered the battery to my camera exploded today. Its all pasty white and green inside my camera... yum.
My first figure painting :) I was so uberly excited.
And my first portrait. Mr. Marcus Michels is the best teacher ever!

Intro to Graphic Design

Had a very interesting time in this class, I'm more than willing to learn graphic design, but it's definitely not possible to learn it all within a semester. Had a little rocky start but I think it turn out alright.
Band Poster for Tegan & Sara. I like the process linework a lot more than the final. I became a little too obsessed with the live trace button in Illustrator, lesson well learned.
We had to design a magazine and we pretty much could do whatever we want. I never really did anything cute before, thought it was a good opportunity to see if I can. We had to do a cover, two spreads and all the fun stuff.
Here is my packaging design for GenT Tapioca Bubble Tea. I really wish I had better documentation on this project.
And finally my business card done in Adobe Illustrator.
